Job Title: Long-Term Substitute Teacher Position Summary: The Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instruction, classroom management, and support for students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher for an extended period of time. This role requires maintaining a positive learning environment, delivering lessons according to curriculum plans, and ensuring student growth and success during the teacher’s absence. Key Responsibilities: Deliver daily instruction following lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop plans aligned with school curriculum if needed. Maintain classroom routines and expectations to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students. Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and/or assessments. Communicate with school staff, administrators, and parents/guardians as appropriate. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and planning sessions if required. Support students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred in some districts). Valid state teaching license or substitute authorization (requirements vary by district/state). Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Flexibility, reliability, and ability to adapt to various grade levels and subjects (if applicable). Work Schedule: Full-time during the teacher’s absence (length may vary depending on assignment). May be required to take on additional duties such as supervising lunch/recess, attending meetings, or planning lessons. Reports To: Building Principal and/or Department Chair
