Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Cook ensures that the resident meals are properly prepared and apportioned according to the resident's diet specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations.Essential FunctionsPrepared food items on assigned/scheduled menusMaintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, work area, storage, area, and serving areaFollow proper food handling proceduresEducational/Training RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredLicensing RequirementsTexas Food Handler Certificate is preferredExperience RequirementsKnowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methodsKnowledge of Universal Precautions and rules that govern hazardous wastePrevious experience in skilled nursing facility is preferredAbility to follow oral and written directionsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative but not necessary all inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
