Resident Engineer – R&D Support (Auburn Hills)

Job Type: Full-time or ContractorIndustry: Automotive / Electronics / Embedded SystemsWork Location: Hybrid – Auburn Hills, Michigan, USAMission DescriptionWe are looking for a highly motivated Resident Engineer to support customer activities from RFQ response through development program closure, including post-SOP support when required.The position acts as the primary technical interface between the customer and internal engineering teams, ensuring successful product development, validation, and issue resolution throughout the program lifecycle.R&D Scope IncludesActive participation in internal meetings (RFx, Program, Quality) and external meetings with customers and suppliersLocal on-site customer interface for development and validation activitiesLiaison between the R&D team and Program Core Team members (Program Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing) for product development activitiesCustomer reporting and escalation management to upper leadership when necessaryMain Activities & ResponsibilitiesInterface with Stellantis for technical reporting, discussions, and negotiationsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Software (SW), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Systems (Sys), and Validation (Val) to provide on-site customer supportSupport engineering activities on-site in Northville where the engineering team is located, when requiredDocument, track, and update customer-reported issues using appropriate issue management systemsParticipate in Program Reviews, Gate Committees, Alert Meetings, and Program Management activitiesContribute to continuous improvement initiatives in customer proposals and engineering processesProfile RequirementsThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:Minimum 3 years of experience as a Resident EngineerStrong understanding of Stellantis milestones, gates, and development processesExperience using Stellantis internal systems and toolsAutomotive validation experience (2+ years preferred)Experience with issue tracking tools such as JIRA, Redmine, IBM RTC, or equivalentKnowledge of automotive validation expectations across multiple disciplines (EE, ME, SW, environmental validation, etc.)Minimum 2 years of experience in development of electronic products such as Displays, IVI systems, ECUs, BCMs for global OEMs (Japan, Europe, Americas)Ability to work effectively with global cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environmentStrong customer-facing communication and support skillsAdvanced written and spoken EnglishWhat We OfferOpportunity to work on advanced automotive technologies with a leading global OEMCollaborative international engineering environmentExposure to multidisciplinary automotive product developmentCareer growth opportunities within innovative mobility and electronics programs
