Industrial Engineering Technician (Millwright)Location: Fort Detrick, MDSchedule: Full-time | On-site | On-call requiredClearance: Must be eligible for DoD SECRET clearanceOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Technician (Millwright) to support a government facility in Fort Detrick, MD. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude across multiple trades, with hands-on responsibility for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex industrial and facility systems.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including motors, pumps, HVAC equipment, overhead doors, and air systemsTroubleshoot equipment issues using diagrams, manuals, and precision instrumentsDisassemble, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, gates, lift systems, etc.)Fabricate and modify parts using welding, machining, and sheet metal techniquesInspect systems, interpret blueprints, and verify specifications and measurementsMaintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; coordinate ordering as neededPrepare maintenance reports and document discrepancies for leadershipSupport installation, relocation, and anchoring of industrial machineryWork across multiple systems: hydraulics, steam, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical componentsEnsure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean work environmentParticipate in after-hours and emergency call-back rotations (1-hour response time required)Perform work in high-containment lab environments (BSL-3 / BSL-4)Required QualificationsMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience across multiple trades (mechanical, welding, fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)Strong knowledge of:Mechanical systems and equipmentHVAC and building automation systemsHydraulics, pumps, and compressed air systemsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematicsExperience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Certifications (Required)OSHA 10 (General Industry)OSHA-Approved Forklift Operator CertificationBasic Quality Assurance (QA) Training (Maintenance/Construction)Clearance & EligibilityMust be a U.S. CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain:DoD SECRET clearanceBPRP statusAccess to BSL-3 / BSL-4 environments Work EnvironmentIndustrial facility with exposure to mechanical systems and equipmentWork performed in high-containment laboratory environments with hazardous materialsRequires adherence to strict safety and biosecurity protocolsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceTuition reimbursementPaid time off and 11 paid holidays
