In addition to performing full officer duties—including patrols, incident response, and access control—this role may serve as Officer in Charge during shifts and provides critical support in medical and psychiatric environments. This position secures valuables, operates communications systems, maintains detailed reports, and serves as a role model for professionalism and adherence to uniform standards.ResponsibilitiesPerforms the duties of an Officer in Charge as required.Provides for the protection and safety of patients, visitors, employees, and physical property at all times in a professional manner.Monitors psychiatric patients as directed by medical or psychiatric staff, to maintain the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.Open and secure doors per department schedules or for authorized personnel.Answers telephones, monitors various radios and CCTV’s in accordance with established procedures, dispatches available personnel as needed.Responds to emergencies and unsafe conditions, interceding on behalf of the Health System.Ensures that all shift duties assigned are completed in a professional and timely manner.Conducts random patrols of Rochester Regional Health System facilities and parking lots for security and the discovery of safety-related issues.Submits accurate and complete reports, documenting events, incidents, and situations encountered.Properly secures and accurately documents the intake of property, valuables, and cash.Must maintain the highest standards of personal grooming and appearance. Strictly adhering to company uniform standards.Controls and monitors access at fixed posts.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent3 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military, or SecurityNYS Security Guard LicenseValid NYS Driver’s LicensePreferred QualificationsStrong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress or emergencies.Demonstrated interest in security, safety, or law enforcement is preferred.EducationLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Physical RequirementsM - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
