Entry level, some manufacturing experience preferred!All Packaging Associates work on a rotating schedule with every other weekend off. Through our give back program, we own our commitment to social responsibility and live our purpose of packaging a better future.ResponsibilitiesThe packer's primary responsibility is to support the manufacturing group by preparing boxes to be loaded, visually inspecting product, loading product, and stacking finished cases in a way that ensures efficient, quality-oriented production. Additional responsibilities include general housekeeping of the work area and other duties as assigned.Your role is critical to the success of the line and the team. Each line has a target goal, and the achievement of these targets ensures we cover our planned costs and help us to achieve profitability each year. A successful business allows for reinvestment in our people, our site, and our business.SafetySeek to understand and support a safety culture and workplaceRemain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of all required PPE for the jobResponsible for following all required safety procedures for each task you doKeep work area clean and organizedReport any safety concern, risk, hazard, near miss, or injury immediately to the appropriate supervision on shiftQualityFollow all GMP guidelines required by the site and for each work stationInspect all product passing through the workstation for any possible defects or product concernsReport any concerns on quality of product immediately to appropriate supervision on shiftProductivityMust be able to construct empty boxes at a rate sufficient to maintain production on assigned machine running at standard rateMust be able to properly palletize finished product at a rate sufficient to maintain production and ready product for transportationMust be able to inspect product being manufactured to ensure the various visual quality parameters of the product produced are within acceptable limits and quickly notify the operator and/or supervisor of any of quality issuesMust do general housekeeping of manufacturing areas and equipment to ensure a safe, efficient and contamination free work area and equipment is maintained. This includes sweeping and mopping of the production area, wiping down the machines and removal of disposal of waste and rubbishMust assist the operators as required in routine start-up and shut down procedures and changing packing materials from one product to anotherMust be able to salvage and re-pack product that is either damaged or otherwise does not meet quality requirementsMust be able to grind defective product and must be able to keep trash and regrind separateMust be willing to work at any packing position available including other areas and/or departments in the plant as work load and customer requirements demandMust be willing to work overtime when neededMust promptly inform supervisor of any issues concerning safety, health, hygiene, quality and efficienciesMust perform other tasks within the plant as assigned by the supervisor or group leaderQualificationsPhysical Requirements and Qualifications:Must be able to stand approximately 10 hours and 50 minutes of a 12-hour shift (70 minutes of break time). All routine tasks are performed while standing.Reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling are constantly present while performing job dutiesFrequently turning body from 0 to a maximum of 180 degreesGood eyesight is essential for constant inspection of product. Seeing both near and far, color vision and depth of field are all required. Vision corrected with glasses or contact lenses is acceptableFrequent walking is required. Distance can be over 50 feet.Bending is frequently required when making boxes (1/2 of shift)Occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or talking may be requiredLifting up to 40 pounds (empty to full boxes) is required. Items lifted include, but are not limited to product, boxes (empty and full), plastic liner bags, tape, cleaning supplies, etc.Pushing and pulling is occasionally required. Items moved include, but are not limited to, boxes, stands, product, regrind, inspection tables, etc.Controls required include hands/arms (both) and feet/legs (both)Environment includes inside work 100%, teamwork 100%, can be near or close to others, can be in excess of 95+ degrees during summer monthsVibration can occasionally be present from running machinesNoisy environment (noise levels 85dB+ depending upon work area)There is a mild plastic smell at timesPersonal protective equipment (PPE) required includes safety glasses, hearing protection, proper safety shoes, gloves, and a bump cap. GMP requirements include hair nets, beard nets, and routine hand washing. In specific areas of the plant and in certain positions a high visibility vest is also required.QualificationsHigh school diploma preferredAbility to work independently as well as working with others effectively as a part of a team is essentialGood verbal & interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well in group situations; ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent mannerFlexibility to work overtime and off shifts as neededMust be able to stand for 10-12 hours due to the nature of the workMust be able to wear the required PPE to enter the plant/complete the tasksWe expect regular and timely attendance to avoid disruption to the team and the lineMust be able to pass a drug screen and background checkWe are an equal opportunity employer.Pactiv Evergreen is now a part of Novolex.
