The Mfg Tech will normally work directly onsite at the WUSA facility at Loveland, Colorado. The Mfg Tech must always project a positive image of our department and company that will meet our customer's highest expectations for service and support of their L3Harris Technologies equipment. The most important performance objective for this department is to repair, test and maintain Wescam MX-Series systems in accordance with pre-established processes, while adhering to customer deadlines. A successful MX-Series repair technician understands the gimbal system, understands how all components work together including peripheral interfaces, and able to effectively troubleshoot, repair and test a failed system. Serve as part of a motivated extended team that supports various U.S. Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and DOD Military customers by repairing mission critical Wescam surveillance systems. This position requires a creative, forward thinking and energetic individual. Excellent communication, relationship building, and problem-solving skills are a must. The best MX-Series repair technicians are strong team players and customer focused.Essential Functions:Develop troubleshooting, repair and servicing of Wescam MX-Series systems within 90 days. Initial MX Training may include formal 2-week training course, followed by extensive on-the-job training.Ability to troubleshoot and repair MX-Series products to the line replaceable unit level.Knowledge of infrared/optical/laser systems is preferredAttention to detail and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to work independently and within a team settingExperience with electrical troubleshootingPerform incoming functional test proceduresTroubleshoot and repair systems by replacing faulty components/assembliesInstall software and firmware in accordance with instructionsPrepare required service documentation in a timely fashionAttend off site training courses and self-study as required to maintain competency and compliance with serviced units, company policies, and proceduresInterface with internal and external customersProvide regular status reports on work in progressUphold safety requirements by wearing PPE and properly using work equipment in designated areasWork against contractual deadlines to meet customer delivery datesAccess and utilize web based technical publicationsFollow ESD, FOD and Laser Safety proceduresPerform post-maintenance on tests per procedure guidelinesWorks under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided, and minimal peer review is required.Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreementWork may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Work is of moderate scope, typically on larger, task-related activities.All other duties as assignedQualifications:Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience as a manufacturing technician, field technician, or prior military skills;2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 3 years of prior related experience.In lieu of formal education, 6+ years of relevant experience.4+ years' experience as repair technician or field technician. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.4+ years' experience as a Repair Technician for a defense contractor specializing in high performance stabilized imaging and has at least 4 years' experience as an electro-mechanical technician on products that are similar in complexity, prior experience servicing systems in the field and in the factory.3+ years direct experience with systems integration, software, optical, and electro-mechanical systems is preferred.3+ years' experience troubleshooting system faults to the line replaceable unit level.2+ years' experience with electronic and mechanical test equipment is also required.4+ years' experience with MS Office applications including Word and Excel is required as well as with specialized software test programs.4+ years' experience communicating clearly (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical customers (internal/external) on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to reach an understanding/agreement.Must be U.S. Citizen.Preferred Additional Skills:Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is desired.Special Operations, AFSOC, DOD, Airborne Law Enforcement or other similar experience is desired.Previous work experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based sensor systems is desired.Familiarity with government contracting is preferred but not required.Previous success working under limited supervision or autonomously.Previous experience successfully prioritizing and managing multiple projects at one time. This would include proven, acute attention to detail & excellent organizational skills.Must be able to work in fast-paced, schedule driven environment, without sacrificing product quality. Ability to logically address, analyze, and resolve problems.Previous end-user experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX-Series sensor systems is desired.Demonstrable knowledge of troubleshooting electronics and mechanical systems, customer service skills and being a part of a motivated and diverse team.Working Conditions:The Mfg Tech must also be available to provide occasional off hour or weekend tasks in support of the customer requirements, as needed.Work may be conducted onsite at the repair facility location, flight line, aviation hangar, test facility, in the field, or in a manufacturing/test environment.Considerable time standing, bending, twisting, and kneeling while building a variety of assemblies.Lifting 50 pounds occasionally and reaching for items on shelvesWorking with general manufacturing hand tools, computers and electronic troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies.Use of basic hand tools for mechanical assembly, metalworking machines and precision measuring and testing instruments.This position will require the ability to travel domestically.Up to 10% travel may be required.
