Job DescriptionJob OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corporate CPA to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves overseeing comprehensive accounting functions within a corporate environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in corporate accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements, contributing to the organization's strategic financial management and operational success. This Executive Team member will also be critically involved M&A with our organization. ResponsibilitiesManage the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant regulatory standards. Oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end/year-end closing processes. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of all financial data across multiple systems such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software. Administer accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment disbursements, and cash flow analysis. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits to uphold financial integrity. Support regulatory reporting requirements related to securities law, governmental accounting standards, or nonprofit regulations as applicable. Prepare detailed financial reports, interpret complex financial data, and communicate insights effectively to management. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Maintain expertise in technical accounting issues such as accrual accounting, debits & credits, and account analysis. Mentor junior staff members in accounting best practices and foster continuous professional development within the team. RequirementsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation with proven experience in corporate or public accounting environments. Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations (if applicable), and industry-specific standards such as LIHTC or nonprofit accounting. Proficiency with advanced accounting software including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping. Experience with SOX compliance processes and regulatory reporting frameworks. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial reports and conduct detailed financial analysis. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments including legal areas like wills, trusts & estate law when relevant. Prior experience in governmental accounting or securities law is advantageous but not mandatory. Ability to mentor team members while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
