Human Resources Generalist (Sterling)

The HR Generalist supports multiple business units and shared service functions, including Accounting, HR, IT, Marketing, Supply Chain and Purchasing, Safety & Compliance, serving both domestic and global employee populations. Ensures compliance with employment regulations and company policies, manages HR processes across assigned contracts, and provides responsive, high-quality support to employees and managers. Operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, the HR Generalist brings strong process orientation, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to all aspects of HR service delivery.Requirements:BA/BS in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferredMinimum 4 years as an HR Generalist or HR SpecialistExperience supporting multi-state and global employee populationsSkills:Strong emotional intelligence and communication skillsProficiency in HCM systems (UKG/Kronos preferred), Excel, and presentation toolsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environmentKnowledge of employment/labor laws and HR compliance standardsAnalytical and reporting capabilitiesJob Duties:Provide HR support across multiple business units and shared services functionsRespond to employee inquiries regarding employment, employee relations, benefits, payroll, and policiesMaintain and audit personnel records and documentation for complianceConduct background checks and employment verificationsDevelop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core HR processesAssist with HR metrics tracking and reportingSupport the ongoing maintenance and efficient functionality of the HCM by performing routine data audits, troubleshooting user issues, and coordinating updatesPartner with talent acquisition and development teams on staffing and onboardingConduct HR and compliance audits; manage tracking logs and project calendarsEnsure compliance with FLSA, SCA, and other applicable regulationsSupport immigration-related activities including H-1B and H-2B visa programsPartner with Benefits and Wellness team to support leave tracking, wellness initiatives, and open enrollmentCollaborate with Payroll to ensure compliance with HR policies related to PTO, leave, and state-specific requirementsAdvise managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary proceduresParticipate in unemployment, wage/hour, and EEOC hearingsAssist with OFCCP audits and Affirmative Action Plan preparationCollaborate with Safety & Risk on workers' compensation claims (DOT and non-DOT)Represent HR in enterprise-wide meetings and initiativesSupport end-to-end payroll processing and benefits administration for global staff, ensuring accurate data entry, timely processing, and compliance with regional requirements.Prepare internal communications and company-wide announcementsMaintain confidentiality and uphold data integrity across all HR systems and processesMentor junior HR staff members, providing guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to build team capability and ensure consistent service delivery.
