Pattern Maker

Create and grade garment patterns to make viable samples and production runs. Monitor and adjust patterns to ensure proper fit, and production friendly construction. Education:Degree in apparel or fashion design preferred, or related industry experience.Essential Functions:Create development patterns based on approved garment designs provided by the Design departmentProcess patterns for photo samples as neededAdjust patterns as needed to achieve desired fit standard, issuing fit samples as requiredAdjust patterns as needed for best construction methodFinalize development patterns and save for production. Establish available pattern options as requiredAccurately grade patterns to maintain GK fit standards across all sizes in productionDevelop pattern bases for all new fabrics, confirming proper fit thru testing as neededAdjust production patterns for shrink & stretch as needed for production ordersDetermine points of measure needed to completely finalize spec and provide direction regarding spec to pattern department clerkAssist in processing patterns for any new fabrics or for research and development testingOther duties as requiredSkills and Abilities:Excellent patternmaking skills (Lectra, Optitex or Gerber preferred)Knowledge of garment constructionStrong Microsoft office skills, including Word and ExcelExcellent communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritizePhysical Demands:Frequent sittingOccasional standing and walkingOccasional movement through various departmentsManual dexterity of fingers and hands
