Controller
Overview:
In this role you guide nonprofit clients as an outsourced Controller, coordinating financial operations to support mission-driven work. You will work with multiple organizations, sometimes remote, shaping reporting, controls, and processes. You help organizations achieve financial clarity and compliance while contributing to a supportive, growth-oriented firm culture. Responsibilities:
- Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients
- Deliver financial reporting for management and Board decision making
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies
- Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close
- Perform budgeting, forecasting, and data visualization
- Manage grant allocations and funder reporting
- Prepare for and manage annual audits
- Provide client and staff training opportunities
Key requirements:
- Passion for working in or supporting nonprofit organizations
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum)5-7+ years accounting experience
- Experience in a remote environment preferred
- Ability to manage and lead multiple clients independently and responsively
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems
- Nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or consulting experience a plusCPA certification is a plus
