Adjunct Instructor - CPR/First Aid Instructor

Facilitate student learning using appropriate instructional strategies Deliver American Heart Association courses using approved curriculum, materials, technologies, and methodologies Facilitate course content and video presentations, provide instruction and demonstrations, answer questions, and supervise hands‑on skills practice Administer written examinations and skills evaluations, provide feedback, and determine successful completion Fulfill teaching schedules and maintain a safe, engaging, orderly instructional environment Prepare and manage course materials and instructional equipment Complete AHA and FVTC documentation, including rosters, evaluations, skills testing records, and examination records Maintain compliance with AHA guidelines, curriculum, instructor standards, Training Center policies, and FVTC procedures Collaborate with the AHA Training Center Coordinator, College staff, fellow instructors, and departments Provide professional instruction and service to students, employers, healthcare organizations, public safety agencies, and community partners Support students developing and demonstrating CPR, First Aid, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and other applicable AHA knowledge and skills Complete required AHA instructor updates, training, and professional development Participate in meetings, instructor updates, training sessions, and team meetings Assist with course preparation, equipment setup, cleanup, organization, and peak training periods Support AHA-related training events and community education activities Travel to College locations, employer sites, and approved training locations as needed Requirements High School Diploma is required (Associate's Degree or higher is preferred) One or more years of teaching or instructional experience preferred Must be a current American Heart Association Instructor Valid American Heart Association Instructor certification in one or more applicable disciplines, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, or other applicable AHA disciplines Must maintain current AHA Instructor status and meet applicable AHA instructor and Training Center requirements Proficiency utilizing applicable instructional technology and learning management systems Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to effectively demonstrate, observe, evaluate, and provide feedback regarding hands‑on CPR and emergency cardiovascular care skills Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, locations, and circumstances Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, employees, employers, healthcare professionals, public safety personnel, and community partners Commitment to continuous improvement in instructional quality through current AHA methodologies, techniques, technologies, and delivery methods Valid Driver's License Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Check Ability to sit, stand, walk, move throughout training environments, and demonstrate CPR and other AHA skills Ability to occasionally lift and carry instructional materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to perform fine motor skills and repetitive motions Ability to travel to various FVTC facilities, employer sites, and approved instructional locations Ability to operate a vehicle when required Ability to set up, move, organize, clean, and store CPR manikins, AED trainers, airway equipment, audiovisual equipment, and other course materials Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in delivering American Heart Association courses, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS, while maintaining compliance with AHA guidelines and instructional standards.
