Optical Test Engineer

Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Optical Test Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on testing, validation, and verification of optical systems, including terminal optics and line systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with optical test equipment and be comfortable working in a lab-based R&D environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform testing, validation, and verification of terminal optics and line systemsWork with coherent optical transceivers (pluggable optics) across switch, router, and transport platformsOperate and maintain optical test equipment such as BER testers, power meters, light sources, and spectrum analyzersInstall, test, and validate new and existing hardware and fiber connectionsCapture, document, and maintain accurate test data and resultsDebug basic hardware and test setup issues related to networking platformsSupport lab operations, including setup and maintenance of lab space, tools, and materialsCollaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings effectivelyRequired Qualifications (Must Have)Hands-on experience in testing, validation, and verification of optical systemsExperience with coherent optical transceivers (pluggable optics)Familiarity with switch, router, and transport platformsProficiency in using optical test equipment such as:BER Tester (e.g., EXFO)Power MeterLight SourceSpectrum AnalyzerWillingness to work in a lab environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience setting up and maintaining hardware R&D lab environmentsKnowledge of fiber optic installation and testingAbility to troubleshoot and debug hardware/test setup issuesStrong documentation and data tracking skillsGood communication and collaboration abilitiesBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or related field
