Senior Full Stack Java DeveloperThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join the team in Renton, WA; Seattle, WA; Everett, WA; Plano, TX; Charleston, SC; or El Segundo, CA.Boeing Information Digital Technology & Security (IDT&S) has an immediate opening for an Experienced Full Stack Java Developer / AI-Enabled Modernization Developer to join the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy Office team.This role is part of a newly formed IDT&S team at the center of Boeing's AI strategy. We are building a dedicated office focused on accelerating AI adoption across the enterprise. Joining now means you will help shape the technical direction, influence team culture, and contribute to how AI transforms our products, platforms, and operations.The primary responsibility of this position is to support Boeing teams with the development, maintenance, modernization, and integration of enterprise software applications using modern software development practices and AI-enabled tooling. You will work as part of a collaborative team of software developers focused on accelerating enterprise application updates and modernization efforts.Position ResponsibilitiesDesign programs, tests, documentation, and maintain computing applications and modernization solutionsGather and evaluate end-user requirements and translate them into technical solutions (using AI tools)Utilize AI agents and tools to support the writing and compilation of code and the construction of database objects based on documented designAnalyze information to determine architecture specifications, software compatibility, application security needs, and other application architecture requirementsModify or upgrade applications to maintain software functionality and performanceIdentify and resolve programming or application architecture problemsSupport technology stack updates and legacy application modernization efforts across enterprise teamsApply AI tooling to support code analysis, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and migration activitiesSupport Specialized-Driven Development (SDD) and/or Design-Driven Development (DDD) practices to improve traceability and qualityWork in close collaboration with Information Security, Cloud Enablement, and vendor partners to ensure secure and compliant AI adoptionResponsible for training and supporting developers and Agile Scrum teams on best practices in AI tooling, secure development, and modernization methodsResponsible for reviewing system performance and recommending improvements to support maintainability, scalability, and securityBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)5+ years of experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) software development5+ years of experience with application development in one or more programming languages such as C#, .NET, C, C++, Java, Python, R, SQL, Pro*C/C++, Perl, Shell Scripting, and Web/HTML technologies (JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, web services, REST, microservices, etc.)5+ years of experience working with agile teams and agile software development5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)5+ years of experience developing, analyzing, and deploying Artificial Intelligence and related algorithms5+ years of experience in a dedicated Software Developer rolePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience5+ years of experience with database design, development of queries in Oracle/SQL Server/MySQLExperience with AI tooling for software development, code transformation, test automation, documentation, or analysisExperience supporting legacy modernization initiatives, including rehosting, re-platforming, re-architecting, or refactoringExperience with Spec-Driven Development or Design-Driven Development practicesExperience training, coaching, or mentoring developers on modern engineering tools and practicesExperience collaborating with vendors on technical solution evaluation or adoptionExperience working independently or with limited direction on moderately complex assignmentsExperience with secure coding, Dev/Sec/Ops, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD), and enterprise governance practicesConflict of InterestSuccessful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Drug Free WorkplaceBoeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria are met as outlined in our policies.Pay & BenefitsAt Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain top talent.
