King High School, with primary responsibility for leading one of the school's specialized academies. The Academy/Assistant Principal supports the overall mission of the campus by ensuring high academic achievement, promoting a safe and supportive school culture, and managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned academy in alignment with campus and district goals.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related fieldValid Texas Principal Certification (or Mid-Management)Certified T-TESS appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessmentLeadership experience in academy modelsAbility to manage instructional programs and supervise personnelStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to analyze data for decision-making and program improvementKnowledge of graduation requirements and post-secondary readinessExperience:* Minimum of 3 years as a classroom teacher (preferably at the secondary level)* Prior campus leadership experience (assistant principal or instructional coordinator preferred)Major Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional and Program LeadershipLead the implementation of the academy's instructional vision aligned to district goalsMonitor curriculum implementation and classroom instruction within the academyAnalyze academic data to improve student achievement and adjust instructional supportsCoordinate academy-specific pathways, certifications, and/or dual credit programsStudent Success and Campus ClimatePromote a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters student growthManage student discipline and attendance for assigned grade level and/or academySupport academic counseling, intervention, and credit recovery processesPromote student involvement in academy-aligned clubs, organizations, and internshipsPersonnel ManagementSupervise and evaluate assigned staff, including teachers and support personnelProvide coaching and professional development tailored to the academy focusCollaborate with instructional specialists and lead teachers to improve instructionOperational and Compliance ManagementAssist in developing and managing the academy's budget and resource allocationsCoordinate with CTE, Advanced Academics, or Higher Education partners as neededEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local policies related to the academyFamily and Community EngagementFacilitate partnerships with industry, higher education institutions, and community stakeholdersCoordinate academy-specific parent nights, advisory board meetings, and student showcasesCommunicate regularly with families about student progress, academy pathways, and opportunitiesWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting; long or irregular hours may be required; possible district-wide and local travel.Minimum Salary $80,503Salary is commensurate with experienceWorks 212 DaysThis is an in-person role and does not offer remote work optionsSheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 05/19/2026.
