Salary: See Position Description Location : SUSCC - Wadley - 750 Roberts Street, Wadley, AL Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 05146 College/Division: SUSCC-901000-Auxiliary Opening Date: 08/29/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Campus Location: Southern Union State Community CollegePosition SummaryThe primary task of the Substitute Residential Hall Associate is to provide administrative supervision and oversight for the residence hall operations during the assigned work hours to include: supervision of residential assistants (RA) and student workers; conduct health and safety inspections; enforce residential regulations and guidelines; coordinate room assignments; plan residence hall programs; maintain residential records including health forms, missing person forms, health insurance and emergency contact information; participate in staff meetings; and perform other duties as requested by the appropriate personnel. Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur overnight = $135 per day Fri-Sun overnight= $175 per day ($525 Friday morning until Monday morning) Daytime rate without overnight= $110 per day Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise the room assignment process for new and returning students. Maintain records/files on each resident, containing such information as emergency contact and health records. Prepare and submit necessary reports. Conduct inspection of rooms, reporting damage or repairs as needed. Serve as host/hostess to parents and visitors. Distribute mail to residents. Attend staff meeting as requested. Supervise and evaluate residence hall staff. Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations. Inform residents of regulation regarding safety, security, and emergency procedures. Schedules special drills for emergency situations such as fire or tornado and maintain required documentation. Maintain a system of key control. Perform other duties as requested by the President OTHER JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Knowledge of college policies and procedures. Knowledge of housing safety codes, regulations and emergency procedures. Verbal communication skills to participate in committee work, conduct community service activities, interact with colleagues and visitors to campus, and effectively interact with resident assistants and student custodial workers. Written communication skills to conduct general correspondence, develop residence hall programs, and prepare reports. Ability to communicate and motivate resident assistants and student workers. Ability to establish priorities and work independently. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and other non-standard hours when required. Willingness to attend workshops and other activities involving travel of several days. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED is required. Related work experience is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree is preferred.
