Business Analyst Finance Transformation

We are recruiting for a Business Analyst (Finance Transformation) based in Midtown Manhattan or Morristown, NJ. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and two remote days per week in the NYC or Morristown, NJ office. It is a long-term contract expected to last 6 to 12+ months. The role supports key finance transformation initiatives and projects by gathering business requirements, analyzing current and future-state processes, and helping align solutions with the function’s target operating model and strategic vision. The contract pay rate is $45–$60 hourly rate for a standard 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday.Responsibilities: Gather, document, and validate business requirements for finance transformation initiatives and related projects.Analyze current-state finance processes and help define future-state workflows, business rules, and process improvements.Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, process maps, user stories, and detailed documentation for stakeholders and project teams.Partner with Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to support solution design, implementation planning, and process optimization efforts.Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and working sessions.Support impact assessments, gap analyses, and readiness activities to ensure proposed changes meet Finance team needs and target operating plans.Work closely with project managers and PMO teams to track deliverables, risks, issues, and requirement changes throughout the project lifecycle.Assist with test planning, user acceptance testing, defect tracking, and validation of implemented solutions.Prepare business-facing documentation, reporting, and presentations.Promote best practices in business analysis, documentation, and change support across finance transformation initiatives.Build strong relationships across Finance, IT, and business teams, and help drive alignment, communication, and issue resolution.Support multiple workstreams or projects simultaneously.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.3-5+ years of business analysis experience, including support for cross-functional projects.Experience supporting finance transformation, process improvement.Experience with financial processes such as accounting close, treasury, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, or order-to-cash is preferred.Experience in P&C insurance or reinsurance is a plus.Experience writing business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, and test cases.Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, with proficiency in common project and business analysis tools. SAP experience is a plus.Local candidates only. Must be in a commutable range to NYC or Morristown, NJ (Hybrid schedule)
