The WordPress Designer & Developer is a multi-disciplinary role responsible for conceptualizing, building, and maintaining custom websites. Blending creative UI/UX design with robust technical coding, this individual handles both front-end aesthetics and back-end architecture to create high-performing, user-friendly digital experiences. As our primary web expert, they will interact directly with clients, internal teams, and partners. Driving business growth through successful website strategy, execution, SEO, and custom online solutions is of utmost importance in this role.

This position is full-time. Our office is a hybrid workplace at which we work 3 days in the office at our Frederick, Maryland location and 2 days remotely. However, during the first 6 month onboarding phase full-time in the office is required.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and develop responsive WordPress websites and landing pages aligned with client growth objectives
Proven ability to conceive design solutions for brands across a wide range of industries
Write clean, scalable code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and third-party APIs
Proactively research audience preferences, UI/UX trends, and emerging web technologies to provide thought leadership
Lead our growing website service offering
Manage web infrastructure, including DNS records, web hosting environments, and domain and plug-in migrations
Implement technical SEO best practices and set up tracking via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager
Execute ongoing website maintenance, security audits, plugin updates, backups, and bug troubleshooting
Build, audit, and remediate websites to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA and ADA accessibility standards
Perform thorough cross-browser, multi-device, and responsive self-testing prior to launching new sites or pushing code updates live
Utilize secure staging environments for all development work, and maintain reliable automated backup, rollback, and disaster recovery protocols
Continuously monitor and optimize sites for Core Web Vitals, speed, and accessibility
Train clients on CMS management following new website launches
Conduct discovery analyses, UX/UI research, and technical scoping for client projects
Develop and nurture strong client relationships, acting as the primary technical point of contact
Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and creative team to translate strategic briefs into actionable, impactful websites. Assist in evaluating project scope, timelines, and resource allocation
Perform tasks as assigned by the Principal, including meeting with clients, assisting with new business presentations and internal initiatives
Build and maintain strong rapport with clients and vendors, acting as the primary technical point of contact. Confidently present, articulate, and justify creative concepts and design directions to external groups
Skills and Qualifications:
4+ years of demonstrable experience in full-stack WordPress development and UI/UX design
Expertise in WordPress architecture, theme creation, page builders (Divi, Elementor), and standard plugins
Strong working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and PHP
Solid hands-on experience managing DNS, web hosting (Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudflare, cPanel, etc.), SSL certificates, and website security protocols
Proven track record in technical SEO, site speed optimization, and implementing analytics tools (GA4)
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple client projects simultaneously, on schedule, and within budget
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients
