Production Maintenance TechnicianThis position is responsible for repairs, rebuilds, maintenance, tracking, and documentation of the vacuum coater and custom tempering lines, plus general facilities maintenance and repair (as needed). The primary work includes preventative maintenance (PM) on processing line equipment, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and emergency equipment repairs, component replacement (i.e., removal, installation, testing, and validation), and other special projects to improve operations and enhance safety or production efficiency.Work schedule is 12-hr shifts: DAYS 5:45am 6:15pm or NIGHTS 5:45pm 6:15am, each with a 30-minute unpaid meal period. Shifts work SEVEN 12-hour work days during each 14-day (two week) pay period as follows (work MON/TUE, off WED/THU, work FRI/SAT/SUN, off MON/TUE, work WED/THU, off FRI/SAT/SUN, repeat). All shifts require occasional scheduled overtime on off days, typically one or two additional days per month.Essential Job Functions:Strong hands-on skills and working knowledge of technical maintenance: troubleshoot, install, replace, repair, service, and/or maintain motors, pumps, valves, controls, chain and belt drives, electrical systems and components (low and medium voltages, 24V controls to 480V-3), pneumatic systems, manifolds, valves and gauges, photo-eye and proximity switches, electro/mechanical equipment (e.g., PLCs, VFDs); select working strength of bolts and the appropriate torque specifications; change oils and lubricate equipment; safely remove, reinstall and align gears, motors, bearings, shafts, sensors and flangesPossess/demonstrate basic understanding in the function, purpose, and use of general mechanic hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipmentDesire to test, diagnose, and repair equipment that includes but is not limited to: roughing and turbo pumps, compressors, stackers and loaders, conveyors, roller tables, edge-delete belt grinders, vacuum systems, glass cutters, fans and blowers, automated robot arms, Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Deionized (DI) water systems, etc.Maintain a Safety First attitude: Ability to read, understand, and follow all safety rules and guidelines at all times and generally work in a safe manner without putting yourself and your co-workers at riskDocument all work, PM's, repairs; order and tracks necessary parts and/or equipmentProficient with computers and MS Office software (e.g., Outlook Email, Word, Excel) to complete shift reports, update PM's on-line in CMMS, gather and report performance data, and communicate statusWork with other employees as a team to meet deadlinesMust be able to read, write and communicate verbally in good effective EnglishNon-essential Job Functions:Repair and maintain basic plant equipment and/or perform facility maintenance functionsPLC Ladder Logic programming or troubleshooting experience is considered a plusRequirements:4 Years Manufacturing and/or Technical School mechanical maintenance experience minimumTechnical Experience: hands-on familiarity with typical industrial shop tools, pumps, motors, drives, calipers, test meters, overhead rail cranes, forklifts, LOTO safety procedures and the use of PPEMaintain supplied tools and use them appropriately to repair/install equipment in a safe mannerMaintain work area, tools, and shop area in a clean and orderly fashionAble to maneuver heavy materials and parts, with or without material handling equipmentAble to adhere to Company Policies as outlined in the provided Employee Handbook, Cal-OSHA Rules and Regulations, and CA Labor Law Rules and RegulationsCardinal Glass believes that their employees are their greatest assets, and we promote from within providing plenty of growth potential to those willing to put forth the effort and accept the responsibility.
