Our client, a rapidly growing, private equity-backed healthcare distribution company focused on delivering critical products and solutions to providers across the U.S. With a strong market position and a diversified customer base, the company is entering a pivotal phase of its lifecycle and is preparing for a potential liquidity event within the next 12–18 months.The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the CEO and private equity sponsor. This individual will lead all financial functions of the organization and play a critical role in preparing the business for a successful exit.The ideal candidate brings deep experience in private equity-backed environments, a strong track record of leading companies through a sale process, and expertise in building scalable financial infrastructure within distribution and/or healthcare sectors.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership & Transaction ReadinessPartner with the CEO and Board to define and execute the company’s value creation planLead all aspects of exit readiness, including financial diligence preparation, quality of earnings (QoE), and data room developmentServe as primary financial liaison to private equity sponsors, lenders, and external advisorsSupport and lead the company through a sale process, including buyer interactions, management presentations, and negotiationsFinancial Planning & AnalysisDevelop and maintain robust financial models, forecasts, and KPIs to support strategic decision-makingDrive budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processesDeliver timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights to leadership and investorsAccounting & ControlsOversee all accounting operations, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readinessStrengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to support scalability and transaction readinessManage external audits and coordinate with auditors and third-party advisorsCash Flow & Capital ManagementOptimize working capital, including inventory management, receivables, and payablesManage liquidity, debt compliance, and banking relationshipsLead cash flow forecasting and capital allocation strategiesOperational & Commercial PartnershipPartner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and sales to drive margin improvement and operational efficiencySupport pricing strategy, vendor negotiations, and cost optimization initiativesImplement systems and tools to enhance financial visibility across the organizationTeam LeadershipBuild, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance teamAssess current team capabilities and implement upgrades as needed to support growth and exit readinessFoster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvementQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred 12–20+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or Divisional CFO rolesProven experience within a private equity-backed company, ideally through a successful exit or liquidity eventStrong background in distribution, healthcare, or related industries Deep expertise in financial modeling, M&A, due diligence, and transaction processesDemonstrated ability to build scalable financial infrastructure in a high-growth environmentExperience managing lender relationships and leveraged capital structuresExceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience interfacing with boards and investorsKey CharacteristicsHands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leader who thrives in fast-paced environmentsHighly analytical with strong business acumen and operational mindsetProven ability to drive results under tight timelines and high expectationsCredible, confident presence with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsThe Equus Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and takes pride in maintaining a diverse environment.
