Traffic Signals Supervisor (Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation))
THE POSITION
Start a meaningful career as a Traffic Signals Supervisor with the Department of Transportation. This role lets you support safe travel by guiding important work on traffic signals and roadway systems within District 6. You will help manage projects, review designs and ensure that traffic devices operate properly. Your leadership will help keep communities moving safely and smoothly.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads work related to traffic signals, traffic studies and roadway safety across multiple counties. The role includes reviewing plans, coordinating projects, and providing technical guidance to staff and local partners. As a Traffic Signals Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
Plan Review: Examine traffic signal plans, safety studies, and traffic control designs
Project Coordination: Support development of traffic projects and participate in field reviews and meetings
Technical Guidance: Provide engineering direction to staff, municipalities, and stakeholders
System Oversight: Manage databases, traffic assets, and information systems
Field Inspection: Conduct reviews, inspections, and quality assurance for traffic installations
Public Communication: Prepare responses, attend meetings, and support public relations efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,658 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirements
This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
