This position is located at the Orange, TX site. As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, this role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing continuous improvement initiatives that protect employees, the community, and the environment.We count on you for:Serve as an active member of the Site Leadership Team, influencing business decisions to ensure safe and compliant operationsDevelop and execute site-wide HSE strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirementsChampion a strong safety culture by promoting transparency, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvementPromote positive relationships with the nearby community, industrial community, and local emergency planning committee.Act as a role model for safety leadership and mentor HSE staff and site leadershipEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulationsMaintain working knowledge of applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, RCRA, PSM, SPCC) and environmental permitsEnsure risk assessments, process safety management (PSM), hazard analysis programs (PHA, HAZOP, JSA), and incident investigations are robustMentor safety committees, behavioral safety programs, and employee engagement initiativesServe as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholdersConduct and oversee safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure corrective actions are implementedEnsure effective emergency response programs, drills, and coordination with local agenciesMaintain site readiness for emergencies and crisis situationsDevelop and deliver HSE training programs to ensure workforce competency and complianceMaintain accurate records and submit required external regulatory reports (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and internal Syensqo reports.Track, analyze, and communicate HSE performance metrics to drive improvementManage departmental budget and resource allocation effectivelyLead, develop, and manage HSE staff and contractorsProvide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunitiesFoster collaboration across departments to achieve site HSE goalsYou will bring:B.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related HSE field12+ years in health, safety, and environmental leadership within the chemical industry Strong environmental expertise, including regulatory compliance, permitting, and environmental management systems, with the ability to lead and oversee broader HSE programsDemonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or management roleStrong leadership and influence skills in a manufacturing environment,Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities,Deep knowledge of HSE regulatory requirements and safety management systems (e.g., OSHA, EPA, RCRA, PSM)Proven analytical and problem-solving capability for risk identification and mitigationAbility to drive cultural change and lead continuous improvement initiativesYou can count on us for: Be part of and contribute to a once-in-a-lifetime change journeyJoin a transversal and dynamic teamOpportunities for growth and learningEncouraging a diverse and inclusive workplace culture that values and respects individual differences and backgroundsYou will get: The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $135,000 to $160,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
