Production Supervisor
Production SupervisorThis position is responsible for the safety, the productivity and the quality mindset of the shop floor employees. The position is responsible for assuring their designated team is achieving productivity goals, adhering to company initiatives and culture throughout the shop floor. In this role, a candidate should expect to spend a majority of their time on the shop floor with the shop floor employees. Coaching, mentoring, training and communication are key elements of this job.Responsibilities include:Responsible for communicating to employees, providing a link between what they do and what the business needsTeach lean concepts and actively engage employees to improve speed, quality and reduce costParticipate and champion continuous improvement eventsCoach and guide employees about proper conduct and behaviors in line with company cultureProvide feedback and maintain documentation regarding employee behaviors (good & bad)Ensure cell employees adhere to company policies (e.g. following operating instructions, safety protocols, etc.)Establish and enforce policies (manufacturing, quality, safety)Responsible for employee time and attendanceAudit overtime usage and seek improvements to reduce as necessaryOptimize resource allocations manpower & equipmentEstablish and sustain a 5S cultureAssure employees have adequate training to achieve quality and productivity requirementsTeam buildingUse problem solving and critical thinking skills to overcome manufacturing obstaclesEncourage problem solving at the operator levelLead and participate in Gemba walksInvestigate safety, quality or productivity issuesCreate and assure that KPI's are being tracked and improvements are soughtManage and communicate resource exceptions (time off / coverage)Produce parts to meet master production schedule requirements takt timeResponsible to expedite jobs outside of cell/shared resourcesProvide timely commitments on WIP and ensure that all commit dates are on track and met.Responsible for WIP quantities and accuracy.Qualifications:College helpful but not requiredSupervisor experience requiredMS Office, ERP systems helpfulAdditional Information:Leadership skills: Strong communication with subordinates, peers and management.
