You will play a key role in building new functionality to support our expansion into new mobility verticals and larger, more complex parking markets. This role requires an individual who thrives in fast-paced environments, working both cross-functionally with product, design, and operations as well as working across multiple engineering teams.What you&#39;ll doProvide technical direction that influences the entire company by formulating and implementing a technical vision and roadmapLead large, cross-team initiatives through the entire development lifecycle, from ideation and requirements through successful launchLead multiple engineering teams (10-15 engineers) towards a common goalWork cross-functionally with designers and product managers to understand, model, and solve real-world problemsOwn the outcomes! You&#39;re responsible for real-world metrics shifts and company-defining business outcomes, not just for shipping softwareModerate technical discussions, evaluate new techniques, and ensure our platform is constantly evolving and improvingLeverage best practices in automation testing and deployment to enable rapid iteration and launch of new featuresHelp build a culture where bugs and mistakes in Production are treated as opportunities to improve the platformBe a great coach to bring the best out of our engineers and a key driver of hiring top talentWhat we&#39;re looking forMS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Strong fundamental computer science skills10+ years of experience building customer-centric applications and productsProven track record of designing and delivering distributed systems and software products in consumer-facing applicationsExperience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and related technologies and paradigmsExperience with Agile engineering processes that support the entire software development life cycle, including TDD/BDD, CI/CD, and related build/test/deploy processesExperience with database technologies, especially MySQL and Postgres.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiencesTrack record of successful cross-functional collaboration while building customer solutions in B2C and B2B settingsExperience succeeding in situations with high levels of ambiguityAble to work in the office in one of Santa Monica (Los Angeles), New York City, or SeattleWhile not required, these are a plus:Advanced-level knowledge of ScalaAn advanced degree in a technical field, such as computer sciencePrevious experience working inside innovative, high-growth environmentsExperience with leveraging AI technology to streamline engineering activitiesOur StackLanguages + Frameworks: TypeScript, React, Scala (principally), Java (limited)Datastores: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SnowflakeCloud: AWSVersion control: Git & GitHubAI Tooling: Copilot on GitHub and Claude CodeObservability: DatadogWhen you join Metropolis, you&#39;ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. The anticipated base salary for this position is $220,000.00 USD to $250,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant&#39;s qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
