Primary duties and responsibilities will include:Analysis and design of specialty steel structures such as stairs, guardrails, canopies, balconies, and aluminum structures, etc.Design of bolted and welded steel connections using specialty FEA software, as well as hand calculationsDesign of structures to the relevant US and Canadian design codes (e.g. ASCE 7-22, IBC 2021, AISC 360-22, CSA S16-19, BC Building Code)Preparation of design sketches and calculation packagesReview of steel and aluminum shop drawingsConducting field reviews of completed workAssisting the Principal Engineer with managing projects, preparing quotes, and working closely with clientsQualificationsB.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering, or equivalentMinimum 1-2 years of industry experienceProficient in the use of structural analysis software (e.g. RISA, SAP2000, SkyCiv Structural 3D)Software skills with any of the following are a plus: SkyCiv, Mathcad, Excel, IDEA StatiCa, Bluebeam Revu, and Trimble ConnectExcellent written and verbal English communication skillsAttention to detail, logical problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skillsStrong interest and passion for steel design, connection design, and steel/metal fabrication in generalPreferred Qualifications:M.A.Sc. / M.Eng. degree in structural engineering (preferably with an emphasis on steel design)3-4 years of industry experience, with strong exposure to steel design and/or steel detailingRegistered as a P.Eng. with EGBC (or eligible for registration within 6 months of hire)Registered as P.E. in at least one stateWhat We OfferWork laptopFlexible, hybrid-remote work scheduleBonus program based on performancePaid vacation, sick days, and holidaysTN work visa for legal work in the United StatesHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume to info@structwest.com.
