Principal – GitHub & Azure DevOps Platform Engineering

Overview As Principal Architect, you will define the strategy and architecture for GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, and related platforms to modernize enterprise software delivery. You will guide platform modernization, migration from legacy tooling, and the adoption of self-service developer capabilities. Collaborating with security, risk, and engineering leaders, you shape a scalable DevOps ecosystem that enhances developer productivity and governance. This role offers impact across the enterprise by advancing modernization initiatives and establishing engineering standards. You will be at the forefront of platform-driven transformation that enables secure, efficient software delivery. ResponsibilitiesOwn the technical vision and architecture for GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, Nexus Repository, and related CI/CD platformsDefine target-state software delivery architecture, governance models, and platform operating modelDrive modernization by migrating from legacy CI/CD tooling to GitHub and Azure DevOpsLead enterprise-scale CI/CD transformation initiatives and migration strategiesEstablish reference architectures, reusable patterns, and engineering standards across tech stacksPartner with enterprise architecture to align platform capabilities with cloud and modernization strategiesDesign and implement enterprise CI/CD standards, workflows, templates, and automation frameworksCreate scalable, self-service onboarding for development teams and govern source control, PRs, and release managementOperationalize AI-assisted engineering (GitHub Copilot) with governance, adoption patterns, and cost oversightDefine observability, reliability standards, dashboards, and KPIs; drive incident resolution and continuous improvementMentor engineers and lead architecture governance and standards discussionsCollaborate with application teams to shape reusable patterns, pipelines, and self-service capabilitiesManage vendor engagement for GitHub, Azure DevOps, Nexus, including licensing and value realization Key requirements10+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or software delivery platformsExperience architecting and operating enterprise-scale GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOpsDeep expertise in CI/CD architecture and software delivery modernizationExperience leading large-scale platform transformation and migrationStrong understanding of source control, repository governance, Release Management, and SDLC practicesHands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, reusable workflows, templatesScripting/automation in PowerShell, Python, BashIaC with Terraform, Bicep, Ansible or similarExperience with artifact management platforms (Nexus Repository)Knowledge of software supply chain security, secrets management, dependency management, DevSecOpsAbility to design highly available, resilient platform architecturesStrong communication and stakeholder managementstrong communicationstakeholder managementmentoringGitHub ActionsAzure DevOps PipelinesNexus Repository
