POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Infant Lead Teacher REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Education Program Director STATUS: Full Time (Up to 40 hours per week) SALARY: $22.00 TO $26.00 Per Hour SUMMARY: Provide a comfortable and secure environment for children to meet their emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs. Organize and present materials that are age appropriate. Help refugee and immigrant children maintain their home language and culture while learning English and feel emotional and socially comfortable in a childcare. Provide information to parents on childcare techniques as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain a clean, safe, healthy environment that is flexible and supportive to the individual needs of infants Deliver weekly lesson plans based on HighScope curriculum components by preparing materials, organizing supplies, and supporting children of meeting their individualized learning goals Organize activities and materials that are age appropriate and meet the children’s emotional, cultural, social, intellectual and physical needs thru active, play-based, multi sensory learning experiences. Completing Teaching Strategies Gold observations and checkpoint data to assess child growth and development. Complete Parent-Teacher Conference at least 3 times a year to provide detailed reports for families regarding children’s growth and development Maintaining children’s attendance, filing documents in a secure, organized system for easy reference by other staff. Provide guidance and manage partnerships to substitutes, volunteers, and classroom aides. Respond appropriately to infants hunger cues; sit down with children and engage in conversations during meals and snacks; model proper eating, handfeeding and following USDA guidelines. Work closely with mentoring coach; meeting weekly implementing recommendations Work with public health nurse and implement recommendations Work effectively as a childcare team member Perform other related duties assigned by Early Childhood Education Program Director MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ECE Short Certificate or Initial certificate on the pathway of completing the short certificate within a year, and at least one year paid or experience working with kids under 3 years old. Must meet federal and state health and safety standards and maintain credentials for childcare (CPR and first aid; TB negative) Current food handlers permit Pass criminal background check Good verbal and written English skills Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, squat, stand and walk in a fast-paced environment. Able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds Ability to multi-task while maintaining a sense of humor Able to work flexible hours occasionally PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: AA degree in Early Childhood Education Bicultural/bilingual in Vietnamese, Chinese, Amharic, Somali, Laotian, Cambodian, Spanish, Arabic, or Amharic Experience with HighScope and Soy Bilingue curriculum BENEFITS: Medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance; Long Term Disability; 403(b) retirement savings plan; paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
