As the Energy Performance Engineer, you will be the driving force behind improving energy efficiency across our industrial operations. You will own the planning, execution, and continuous enhancement of energy performance—leveraging data, analytics, engineering expertise, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver measurable impact.This is a high‑visibility role where you will influence strategy, identify cost‑saving opportunities, lead ISO 50001 initiatives, and partner with teams across the organization to help drive our long‑term energy, cost, and sustainability goals.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience working on energy conservation projects (heavy industrial preferred)Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM)Experience with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems (preferred)Strong understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems, including:Thermal processesCompressed air systemsDust collectionAir make-up unitsPumps and fansAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and process diagramsProven ability to lead teams and influence cross‑functional partnersExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills—comfortable presenting, facilitating training, and inspiring behavior changeStrong project management abilities, especially in complex, multi‑discipline environmentsAdvanced analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to translate data into actionAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office toolsPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Engineering or related field5–7 years of energy engineering experience (heavy industrial strongly preferred)Strong energy data analytics and auditing capabilitiesExperience with Continuous Improvement and/or Six SigmaBackground in steel mill or foundry operations/maintenanceDemonstrated creativity and adaptability in developing solutionsMajor AccountabilitiesLead the Energy Management System in alignment with ISO 50001 principlesBuild strong partnerships with plant teams to uncover operational efficiency opportunitiesMaintain and enhance energy performance indicators (EnPIs), baselines, and improvement targetsMonitor, analyze, and interpret energy usage data to prioritize improvements across facilitiesManage the integration and optimization of energy monitoring software and dashboardsConduct energy assessments and audits across industrial processes and systemsDevelop and implement energy management strategies tied to organizational goalsPartner with Engineering on capital project evaluation, technical due diligence, and ROI analysisSupport Finance with monthly energy reporting, cost budgeting, and measurement & verification (M&V) of savingsCoordinate participation in utility programs, demand response, and reliability initiativesLead plant energy teams and standardize best practices across sitesCreate and deliver training to strengthen energy awareness, compliance, and performancePromote alignment between cost‑reduction initiatives and sustainability outcomesStay current on emerging technologies, regulations, and industry best practicesCollaborate with state and federal agencies to leverage available resourcesFollow Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System requirementsMeet all essential job requirements with or without reasonable accommodationThe annual hiring range for this position is: $111,500-$139,400. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.
