Position Overview Microboard is seeking a highly skilled SMT Programming Engineer to lead the programming, optimization, and performance of our surface mount technology (SMT) assembly lines. This role plays a critical part in bridging engineering design and production execution, with a strong focus on maximizing throughput, efficiency, and quality. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in high-speed PCBA assembly, with a strong emphasis on the Fuji platform, and will serve as the subject matter expert for SMT programming and process optimization. Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development: Develop and maintain high-accuracy SMT placement programs for complex, high-density PCB assemblies.Fuji Platform Management: Utilize Fuji NEXIM software for part library management, feeder setup, and line balancing across SMT lines.Process Optimization: Analyze machine cycle times and implement improvements to drive higher efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).Library Maintenance: Create, validate, and maintain component libraries, including new part shapes and packages within NEXIM.Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced technical support for placement errors, vision system issues, and machine calibration challenges.Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed setup sheets, feeder maps, and work instructions to support production teams.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure seamless new product introductions (NPI) and ongoing process improvements. Qualifications Required: 5+ years of hands-on SMT programming experience in a high-mix or high-volume manufacturing environmentMinimum 3+ years of experience programming Fuji SMT platforms (NXT, AIMEX, etc.)Advanced proficiency with Fuji NEXIM softwareStrong ability to read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and CAD/Gerber filesIn-depth knowledge of SMT processes, IPC standards, and manufacturing best practices Preferred: Experience with AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) integrationBackground supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) environmentsExperience mentoring junior programmers or operators Leadership & Impact Serve as the technical lead for SMT programming and process optimizationProvide guidance and support to SMT programmers and production teamsDrive improvements in throughput, quality, and overall manufacturing efficiency
