Senior Network Engineer

Location: Round Rock, TXProject Overview:

Key Responsibilities: Wireless Network Engineering: Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise wireless access points and wireless controllers. Network Infrastructure: Design and support enterprise Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching environments across campus and data center locations. Routing and Switching: Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, VTP, PortChannels, OSPF, and BGP.Network Automation: Develop automation solutions that streamline network provisioning, configuration, validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Scripting and Programmability: Automate routine network operations using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, and similar scripting or orchestration tools. Performance and Availability: Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, scalability, and security. Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex network issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective solutions. Network Integration: Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and application teams to support network integrations and deployments. Documentation: Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, operational procedures, technical specifications, and deployment documentation. Operational Support: Participate in change management, incident response, testing, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Technical Specifications: Develop clear and precise product requirements and technical instructions that can be interpreted consistently by engineers and Large Language Models. AI-Assisted Workflows: Break complex technical applications into structured workflows that may include coordinator, implementer, and verifier agents. Testing and Verification: Establish automated verification criteria and ensure completed code and network automation solutions map back to approved technical specifications.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of five years of enterprise network-engineering experience. CCNP certification or demonstrated CCNP-level networking expertise. Strong experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise campus and data center networks. Hands-on experience supporting wireless access points and wireless controllers. Experience working within change-management, incident-response, and production-support environments.

Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, VTP, PortChannels, OSPF, and BGP.Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and network-security fundamentals. Proficiency with Python, Ansible, or comparable network automation and orchestration frameworks. Experience with REST APIs and network-programmability concepts. Familiarity with major networking platforms such as Dell, Cisco, Arista, and Juniper. Experience with enterprise wireless access points and wireless controllers. Understanding of software architecture, API contract design, and data-schema standards. Ability to write detailed, unambiguous PRDs and technical specifications for AI-assisted development. Familiarity with LLM prompt engineering and structured multi-agent workflows. Experience developing automated test and verification criteria and validating code against approved specifications.
