Job Title: Sr. Engineer, Quality & Reliability EngineeringLocation: Will work hybrid but should sit local to Hampton, VADuration: 1 Year with possible extensionsPay: $60/hr.Shift: 1st shift, 7 to 5pm estTravel: Some travel, up to 20%, should be local(regional)Candidates must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected individual).Job OverviewCrucial member of the project core team and acts as a voice of the customer for quality related topics within the LEANPD / New Product Development process.Responsible for the quality of the project launch as well as the quality tasks of the project, including the entire project from the initial design through production release and customer PPAP approval (G5), at which point when the quality responsibilities are transferred from advanced quality to manufacturing quality (Factory Quality).Job Requirements Task Summary And Responsibilities Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority. Evaluates together with the core team members the customer requirements, compliance requirements and internal requirements and supports clarification of imprecise requirements to achieve clear product specifications. Secures that the defined development process is being followed including checklist applied, project reviews held, risk analyses conducted and escalates to his/her manager as needed. Ensures that each task within the project is done correctly and with the quality required for a successful launch of the project. Ensure quality planning, documentation, and customer submissions comply with ITAR and export control requirements. Supports the design and drawing review meetings to achieve the quality standard, structure, and content. Make sure the product & design validation is planned and executed successfully prior to Start of Production (SOP). Supports the project until it is mature enough to be transferred to Manufacturing Quality teams. Collects, registers, supports and evaluates any variations from customer requirements during LEANPD projects. The AQE is the 8D problem solving team leader for issues during product development. Supports but does not own the FMEA. Acts as FMEA moderator and quality authority, ensuring robustness and risk adequacy to achieve the quality standard, structure, and content. Leads and coordinates Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and completed per LEANPD requirements Control Plan owner and will lead Control Plan meetings including assigning actions and ensuring they are completed. Supports and promotes product standardization as well as updates to the design standards Responsible for driving the “Lessons Learned” process and “Read Across” of lessons during project start and project development and in case of customer complaints during project phase to avoid re-occurrence for new developments. Drives monitoring and improvement of development process KPIs and implementation of process improvements. Supports the implementation and training of quality standards and improvements to existing development processes and sub-processes in engineering departments Collaborates introducing and training of quality and engineering related software packages, quality procedures and systems. Hosts and leads audits as a part of a LEANPD project Collects and checks the quality and content of the customer production approval documentation and is responsible for any submission to customer, as well as gaining customer approval. Audits APQP documents, such as DFMEA, PFMEA, process flowchart and production control plan and ensures responsible parties effectively close his/her findings. Supports improvement of existing APQP system by giving feedback and input to process owners Promotes quality culture by supervising and consulting on methods and tools. e.g. 8D training, root cause analysis, risk management, variant comparison Represents the company to the customer in quality-related tasks during the LEANPD project Reviews LEANPD deliverables in advance of Project Approval Committee (PAC) to make sure projects are ready to be presented on the PAC meetings, escalating to management instances where deliverables are not satisfactorily met.Required Experience B.S. degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, with significant involvement in NPI / APQP activities for regulated products Knowledge of quality related activities, particularly APQP Knowledge of Industry Standards such as AS9100, ISO13485 and ISO22163 Problem Solving Abilities using 8D methodology Knowledge in in core tools such as: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA Internal Systems Auditor Experience with software for creating FMEAs and Control Plans (APIS IQ-RM Pro preferred) Experience using statistical software such as Minitab Certified Six Sigma Black or Green Belt This position involves access to information and hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
