Job Description Summary As a Senior Trial Attorney you will represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies as lead counsel and as part of a larger team when needed. Your caseload will include a variety of cases differing in complexity, severity, and product lines across all courts and agencies in the assigned jurisdiction. You will maintain a highly productive case volume, embrace technology, and approach case management with organization and proactivity. Location: Pennsylvania – Wexford, 2559A Brandt School Road. The associate must reside within 35 miles of this location. Work schedule: 3 days in‑office, 2 days remote. This position does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization or the STEM OPT extension program. Key Responsibilities Act as lead counsel or team member, demonstrating trial advocacy skills and a proactive case‑management approach. Require minimal oversight from the Managing Trial Attorney and NTD leadership. Leverage technology to collaborate with support staff and ensure efficient case management. Stay current with changes in law, technology, and local rules that affect litigation strategies. Maintain subject‑matter expertise in all NTD concentrations and be willing to learn additional concentrations as needed. Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations, communicating them promptly to clients and claims. Build and sustain strong professional relationships with key associates, claims partners, and industry contacts. Use those relationships to enhance NTD’s reputation and expand referral opportunities. Communicate effectively, meeting client, claims, and internal expectations both written and verbal. Serve as a mentor and role model for junior attorneys and staff, offering guidance and training. Perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Managing Trial Attorney. Typical Skills and Experiences Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. License/Certification: Active license in the state of employment. Experience: More than eight years of civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation. Legal Competencies: Significant litigation experience, complex legal practice, and strong written and verbal communication. Professional Skills: Negotiation, analytical reasoning, creative problem solving, time management, project coordination, and leadership. Technology: Computer savvy with basic software and electronic filing systems. Commitment to state ethical rules and Nationwide policies. Values Consistently demonstrate Nationwide values in all professional activities. Job Conditions Overtime Eligibility: Exempt (not eligible). Working Conditions: Normal office environment with 3‑day in‑office/2‑day remote schedule. Frequent travel, occasional overnight travel, and extended hours as required. National range for Senior Trial Attorney: $138,000 – $243,000. Expected starting range: $138,000 – $206,000.
