Janitorial AssistantHours: Part TimeLocation: Amherst, MA.Position Description:Assist UCP directors in maintaining and improving the agency’s buildings and grounds.Specific Job Duties: Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors. Clean kitchen appliances such as stove, microwave and refrigerator. Collect, sort and distribute mail. May be asked to weed or keep outside area clean. Collect and empty trash. Assist with special projects as requested.General Job Duties: Perform all job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. Comply with all state and federal regulations as well as agency policy and procedures including but not limited to incident management, health and safety, HIPAA/confidentiality, human rights, and mandated reporting. Maintain cooperative, positive, and professional communications with other UCP employees, volunteers, and stakeholders. Maintain workspace in a safe and attractive manner. Ensure all documentation is timely, thorough, and accurate. Positively represent UCP within the community, as required. Assist with UCP activities, as requested.Qualifications: Ability to communicate orally and understand and follow directions provided verbally. Must be reliable and understand all safety features of the job. Must be able to work with their supervisor to learn the position. Detail oriented and thorough. Polite and courteous to other staff, members and visitorsPhysical Demands:The position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces. Reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also includes both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. Ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds is required. The nature of the work also requires the employee to climb ladders.
