Backend Software Engineer

*Commerce Services Engineer (Backend Software Engineer) * *Contract (6 months, with potential for extensions or conversion to FTE)* *Remote (CST or EST Time Zone) * *Experience:* *4–6 years* Our global retail client is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the team responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native RESTful APIs supporting digital checkout experiences, native mobile applications, and internal and external partners. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex business problems by delivering simple, robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions using continuous integration and continuous delivery practices. *Responsibilities* * Participate in back-end development efforts supporting a robust e-commerce platform. * Design and implement scalable RESTful APIs using proven design principles and patterns. * Develop utility functions and cross-cutting modules. * Build and maintain services supporting e-commerce payment and commerce workflows. * Collaborate with finance, accounting, product, and other cross-functional teams as needed. * Work within an Agile/Scrum and test-driven development environment. * Develop unit and functional tests for code developed. * Participate in service/change management processes and follow established operational procedures. * Work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams. *Required Skills & Experience* * 4–6 years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years building back-end systems. * 1+ years of experience building scalable RESTful APIs. * Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, and algorithms. * Experience with Java, JEE technologies, Spring, and related frameworks. * Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases. * Knowledge of asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures. * Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. * Experience working with e-commerce payment services/payments processing is highly preferred. * Experience working with Adyen or similar payment service providers is a strong plus. * Experience working with finance/accounting processes related to e-commerce payments is preferred. * Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Chef, etc. is a plus. * Experience with containerization/orchestration technologies is a plus. * Ability to work independently and take initiative. *Education* · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant experience. *WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU* * 401(k) matching plan * Medical, dental, and vision plans * Health Savings Account and Dependent Care FSA * Supplemental coverage options * Paid time off, sick time, and 6 paid company holidays * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with virtual counseling, financial and legal services, life coaching, and more * Relationship-driven process to find your best fit * Regular meetings to ensure quality in your engagement * Opportunities for professional growth and advancement *ABOUT US* At Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
