Overview:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical field. Minimum 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, or Automotive Infotainment development.This position is focused on the development, definition, and management of In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system requirements and feature integration activities across multiple vehicle programs.The engineer will be responsible for owning and developing feature requirements, defining interfaces between ECUs and software components, and supporting integration activities across IVI domains including infotainment modules, displays, telematics, gateways, and connectivity systems.The role requires strong communication skills, systems thinking, and the ability to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams within a fast-paced automotive environment.The engineer will work closely with architects, software teams, HMI teams, validation teams, and program stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly defined, traceable, and aligned with vehicle-level system behavior.Key Responsibilities:Requirements Engineering & Feature OwnershipOwn and develop IVI feature requirements from concept through implementationWrite clear, structured, and testable system requirements from scratchPerform functional decomposition and requirement allocation across ECUs and software componentsManage requirement traceability, change management, and impact analysis activitiesSupport requirement reviews and alignment across engineering teamsIVI Systems & Interface DefinitionDefine interfaces and communication flows between IVI ECUs and connected systemsSupport system integration activities across infotainment, telematics, displays, gateways, and connectivity modulesUnderstand and analyze vehicle network communication including CAN, LIN, and EthernetCollaborate with architecture teams to support feature integration strategiesSupport API/interface definition activities for system interactionsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with software, validation, HMI, architecture, and vehicle integration teamsCoordinate working sessions with stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve gapsSupport issue investigation and system-level problem resolution activitiesCommunicate technical topics and project updates clearly to internal teamsSystems Analysis & Validation SupportPerform impact analysis when requirements or interfaces changeSupport compatibility analysis across vehicle programs and architecturesAssist validation and integration teams during feature verification activitiesParticipate in root cause analysis and issue triage discussionsAgile Development & DocumentationWork within Agile development environments including Scrum and KanbanMaintain technical documentation related to requirements and interfacesSupport backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirement prioritization activitiesEnsure proper documentation and tracking of engineering changesProfile:Systems Engineer with strong requirements engineering and IVI domain knowledgeComfortable working across multiple ECUs, interfaces, and cross-functional teamsStrong communication and coordination skillsStructured, proactive, and detail-oriented mindsetAble to understand system impacts and dependencies when requirements evolveMust Have:3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Requirements EngineeringExperience writing system or software requirements from scratchExperience within Automotive Infotainment (IVI) or IoT/Connected Systems environmentsKnowledge of vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and EthernetExperience with requirement management tools such as JAMA, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalentUnderstanding of ECU interactions and system integration conceptsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsExperience working in Agile environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood to Have:Experience with JAMA requirement management toolKnowledge of SysML/UML and modeling toolsExperience with automotive infotainment ecosystemsExposure to API/interface definition activitiesKnowledge of SOME/IP or service-oriented architecturesExperience with Jira and ConfluenceExposure to Automotive SPICE or functional safety environments ALTEN Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
