Salary: $57,493.00 Annually Location : Albemarle Campus, NCJob Type: Full-time Faculty (12 month)Job Number: 00540Division: Academic AffairsOpening Date: 10/27/2025GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONInstructor, plumbing responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in plumbing theory and practice, monitoring student progress, and ensuring an engaging, hands-on learning environment. The instructor will utilize NCCER Plumbing Curriculum (or equivalent) and provide training in residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems, including piping, fixtures, drainage, code compliance, and safety practices.QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Diploma in Plumbing, or extensive work experience in related field (5 years or more) and current industry certifications or licensures relevant to the plumbing.Two years of experience in the plumbing trade.Preferred: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree or bachelor's degree in related fieldNorth Carolina Licensed Plumbing Contractor (or equivalent in another state).NCCER Plumbing Instructor Certification.OSHA 10 or 30 Safety Certification.Teaching experience in a career and technical education (CTE) or apprenticeship setting.Current state or national plumbing license/certification at the journeyman level or higher. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDeliver engaging, industry-relevant plumbing instruction in both classroom and lab/shop settings.Stay current with plumbing codes, safety standards, and emerging technologies in the trade.Foster a supportive learning environment through proactive student engagement.Assist with student recruitment efforts and promote program growth.Maintain and oversee plumbing lab equipment, tools, and materials, ensuring safety and functionality.Serve as a mentor to students in your area of expertise.Provide career mentoring and career exploration opportunities.Facilitate the development of employability skills and workplace readiness.Coordinate industry visits, apprenticeships, and guest speakers.OTHER DUTIESClassroom InstructionTeach 18-22 contact hours per semester, emphasizing hands-on practice and real-world applications.Develop and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons aligned with plumbing trade standards and industry practices.Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and growth.Teach courses in plumbing systems, piping installation, fixtures, blueprint reading, code interpretation, and safety.As needed, teach classes online, on-campus, and/or at off-campus sites.Teach an academic success or work-based learning class as needed.Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning.Ensure cleanliness and safety in labs and classrooms.Ensure the proper operation of plumbing tools/equipment; report any malfunctions.Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audiovisual aids, and equipment needs.Develop and distribute course syllabi according to established guidelines, providing clear course expectations, evaluation criteria, and student support services.Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audiovisual aids, support and equipment needs.Develop and distribute course syllabi according to the established template and guidelines, providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations, evaluation criteria, and access to student support services.
