Job Summary:The Medical Assistant will support the PacMed 65+ Health Center, a primary care clinic serving elderly patients (age 62 and up). The role involves standard medical assistant workflows, working to the top of their scope to support clinicians, minimize hospital admissions, and reduce emergency department utilization for complex patients. Strong administrative experience and excellent communication skills are required for coordinating patient care with outside facilities and physicians.Location:Bothell, Washington, United StatesResponsibilities:- Assist patients in their routine activities of daily living.- Perform range of motion exercises.- Ambulate patients.- Position patients and provide skin care.- Distribute linen and change beds as needed.- Assist with feeding and meal delivery.- Assist with routine hygiene care, including toileting, incontinent care, and oral/personal hygiene.- Assist the patient care team in collecting patient data and specimens.- Obtain urine, stool, and sputum specimens and process as needed.- Obtain and record height, weight, vital signs, including pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.- Assist the patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures.- Perform incentive spirometry.- Transport patients and prepare them for diagnostic tests.- Assist rehab therapists.- Perform pulse oximetry/oxygen setup in oxygen therapy.- Prepare rooms with necessary supplies and provide post-mortem care.- Prepare for admissions and discharges.- Assist nurses in emergency situations.- Maintain and clean equipment.- Perform suction (oral, nasopharyngeal).- Perform blood sugar finger sticks.- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.- Perform EKGs.- Answer unit phones and direct calls accordingly.- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems and document patient care and related duties appropriately.- Perform selected patient registration activities.- Coordinate equipment/supply needs and notify the appropriate department of equipment malfunctions.- Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills & Certifications:- Valid WA MA-C License- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Strong administrative experiencePreferred Skills & Certifications:- EPIC charting experienceSpecial Considerations:- Must resolve all scheduling restrictions/limitations (childcare, transportation, etc.) prior to start.- Opportunity to convert to a permanent employee.Scheduling:- Full-time, 40 hours per week.- Monday - Friday, 0830-1700.
