Wommack, Headwall combines entrepreneurial drive with disciplined execution—backed by a proven track record in development and investment.SummaryThe Staff Portfolio Accountant supports the accounting and property management teams by maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of real estate properties, processing daily transactions, and assisting with recurring accounting schedules. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, analytically minded, organized, and eager to grow their technical accounting skills in a real‑estate or property‑management environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProperty Accounting· Log mortgage statements and record interest accruals accurately and on schedule.· Record monthly accruals, amortizations, and journal entry reclasses in the general ledger.· Log and verify tenant ACH payments, ensuring proper allocation to tenant accounts.· Calculate property management fees based on contractual terms and property performance.· Enter and code bills into the property management software for approval and payment.· Log credit card transactions and bank transactions, ensuring proper categorization and supporting documentation.· Assist with account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.· Maintain organized digital and physical financial records for audit readiness.· Support month‑end and year-end close activities and collaborate with senior accountants as needed.· Assist with annual budgets and annual cam estimates and cam reconciliations.Fund Accounting· Help track capital contributions, distributions, and investor allocations in coordination with the fund administration team.· Reconcile fund and entity level bank accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis.· Support audit preparation by organizing workpapers, responding to auditor inquiries and ensuring documentation completeness.· Assist senior fund accountant on fund-related tasks as assigned.Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field · Understanding of basic accounting principles and general ledger structure.· 1+ years of professional experience in accounting-related fields· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with property management software is a plus.· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.· Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.Preferred Attributes· Interest in real estate or property management accounting.· Analytical mindset with a commitment to accuracy.· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
