Registered Behavior Technician
Position Summary
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct 1:1 behavioral intervention services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of a BCBA, the RBT implements individualized treatment plans, collects data, and supports skill acquisition across communication, social, play, and daily living domains.
At Honey Bee Therapy, RBTs are essential members of the “Whole Hive,” contributing to a compassionate, ethical, and play-based learning environment that prioritizes dignity, assent, and meaningful progress.
Core Responsibilities
Direct Client Care
Implement individualized treatment plans as designed by the supervising BCBA
Provide 1:1 ABA therapy using evidence-based practices (e.g., NET, DTT, task analysis, shaping)
Follow behavior intervention plans (BIPs) with fidelity and consistency
Support skill acquisition in communication, social interaction, play, and adaptive skills
Promote learner dignity, assent, and engagement throughout sessions
Data Collection & Documentation
Collect accurate, objective data during sessions (skill acquisition and behavior reduction)
Record data using electronic systems (e.g., Passage Health)
Complete session notes in a timely, professional, and insurance-compliant manner
Document relevant variables affecting client performance
Behavior Support
Implement proactive and reactive strategies outlined in behavior plans
Maintain a neutral and professional demeanor during maladaptive behaviors
Ensure client safety at all times, including during instances of elopement, aggression, or self-injurious behavior
Participate in ongoing training in behavior management strategies
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with BCBAs, team members, and caregivers
Participate in supervision sessions and accept feedback to improve clinical skills
Maintain professionalism in all interactions with families and team members
Support generalization of skills across environments when appropriate
Professionalism & Compliance
Adhere to the BACB Ethics Code for Behavior Technicians
Maintain active RBT certification and complete required supervision hours
Follow all company policies, including HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability in scheduling
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment
Clinic Culture & Contribution (Honey Bee “Whole Hive” Model)
Contribute to a positive, team-oriented clinic culture
Assist with preparing materials, cleaning shared spaces, and supporting transitions
Engage actively with learners during all scheduled times (no passive supervision)
Model compassionate, trauma-informed, and values-based care
Required
Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the BACB
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Experience working with children, preferably in ABA or related field
Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and move quickly as needed
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to engage in physical play (running, jumping, floor play)
Ability to respond safely to behaviors such as elopement or aggression
Work Environment
Clinic-based in Middletown Ohio
Fast-paced, play-based, and highly interactive environment
May include exposure to loud noises, movement, and variable behaviors
