Job Title: Controls EngineerLocation: Warren ,MIDuration: Long TermJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong expertise in GCCS standards and Allen-Bradley automation systems to support powertrain manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, commissioning, and troubleshooting in engine or transmission assembly environments while adhering to GM standards and documentation practices.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs.Program, maintain, and debug automation systems using Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000.Design, configure, and support FactoryTalk View HMI applications.Configure and troubleshoot EtherNet/IP communication networks and industrial devices.Support commissioning, startup, and validation of automated manufacturing equipment.Diagnose and resolve controls-related issues on production equipment to minimize downtime.Work on powertrain manufacturing automation, including engine and transmission assembly lines.Ensure all controls programming, documentation, and system architecture comply with GM GCCS standards, naming conventions, and documentation requirements.Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, process, and mechanical engineering teams to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain project documentation, backups, and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment.Strong experience with:GM GCCS standards and architectureAllen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCsStudio 5000 / RSLogix 5000FactoryTalk View (HMI)EtherNet/IP industrial communicationsExperience supporting engine or transmission assembly lines or similar powertrain manufacturing systems.Hands-on experience with commissioning, startup, debugging, and production support.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live manufacturing environments.Familiarity with GM naming conventions, standards, and documentation practices.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience working directly on General Motors (GM) manufacturing projects.Knowledge of industrial safety systems and machine integration.Experience with industrial robots, vision systems, or servo motion is a plus.Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.Preferred SkillsGM GCCS StandardsAllen-Bradley ControlLogixAllen-Bradley CompactLogixStudio 5000RSLogix 5000FactoryTalk ViewEtherNet/IPPLC ProgrammingHMI DevelopmentPowertrain ManufacturingEngine AssemblyTransmission AssemblyCommissioning & StartupProduction Equipment DebuggingGM Documentation Standards
