Electrical Project Engineer | Boston, MAIMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts, to lead design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects and support the delivery of larger, more complex work with senior staff. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide electrical engineering solutions for buildings, including analysis, design, and implementation oversight, while supporting client goals, project budgets, and team collaboration. You’ll also contribute primarily to education, hospitality, housing, government, and healthcare projects, with opportunities to support other markets as well.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead electrical system analysis and design efforts for building projects in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standardsDevelop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and toolsInteract with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationshipsSupport project execution through planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with the project teamDocument design decisions, client instructions, percent complete, and fee expended throughout the project lifecycleAnalyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutionsPerform in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications and apply IMEG quality control standardsStay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering while contributing to innovation effortsPrioritize safety in all aspects of work and identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support projects through bidding and construction administration, while escalating potential project issues to the Project ManagerRequired Qualifications And SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildingsProficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck. Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam RevuKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) StandardsProficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.Ability to train and mentor less experienced staffExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
