Today, more than 30,000 families and individuals call an Epcon community “home,” which makes Epcon one of the top lifestyle-rich home developers in the country year after year.Your Opportunity as Assistant ControllerThe Assistant Controller will support and partner with the Controller in overseeing the accounting operations across all Epcon Communities corporate departments, six regional divisions, and the franchising business. This position is responsible for safeguarding company assets, enhancing financial processes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and Epcon policies.Responsibilities:Play a key role in overseeing financial operations including accounts payable, payroll, and construction accounting.Produce monthly financial statements for all corporate divisions, including quarterly reporting packages to leadership.Support the annual budgeting process, including managing and reviewing submissions and ensuring adherence to deadlines.Work directly with Regional Presidents to provide an understanding of the monthly budget to actual variance analysis and reporting.Review month end reconciliations and improve the timeliness of the month end process.Partner with the Controller to manage and develop Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants. Lead external audit process and assist in preparing audit schedules. Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in accounting procedures.Implement and maintain internal controls over accounting and accounts payable processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Support ad hoc requests and respond to day-to-day inquiries from key stakeholders.Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA strongly preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role Experience in residential homebuilding or construction industry preferred Proven experience managing teams and applying HR policies and practices Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, budgeting, payroll and accounts payableAdvanced proficiency in Excel and experience with FP&A/accounting systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracyStrong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentDisplays cooperation and ability to work as part of a team.Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the organizationStrong customer service mindset with both internal and external stakeholdersAbility to assimilate, analyze, synthesize, integrate concepts and problem solve to formulate, recommend and carry out accounting functions.Ability to track, retain, retrieve and apply information (knowledge, facts, decisions etc.) to manage and solve complex issues.What We OfferEpcon Communities offers a competitive base salary and an opportunity to earn a generous bonus.
