Staff Engineer - Highway/Traffic

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Highway/Traffic Department in Wall, NJ. ResponsibilitiesAssist with the design and preparation of roadway and traffic engineering plans, including alignments, profiles, signage, striping, and maintenance of traffic plansSupport traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, and capacity analysisPerform data collection and analysis, including traffic counts and field observationsPrepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentationUtilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and/or HCSCoordinate with internal team members across multiple disciplinesAttend project meetings and assist with client coordination as neededSupport construction phase services, including shop drawing review and field inspectionsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university0–2 years of relevant experience (internship experience preferred)Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one yearBasic knowledge of roadway and/or traffic engineering principlesFamiliarity with NJDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards is a plusExperience with design and analysis software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, etc.) preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasksBenefitsWe understand that a fulfilling career is about more than just the work you do – it’s about feeling secure in your health, confident in your financial future, and balanced in your personal and professional life. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
