Job Description As a Shift Assistant at the Exchange, you'll function as a jack-of-all trades for the store. If you are highly adaptable and enjoy a job where no two days are the same, this is the position for you. Your primary duties will involve merchandising the floor, creating price labels, and updating shelf labels. Therefore, organizational skills and tidiness are important- you are an integral part of making sure our store looks clean and appealing to the customer. Your knowledge of the store will also allow you to provide expert customer service and create a welcoming environment. Job Qualifications Completion of high school or the equivalent. Retail experience. Demonstrated willingness and potential for additional responsibility. If applicable to position, associate must successfully complete the management motor compliance course number 175S within three months of occupying position. If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting. Major Duties Provides high level of customer satisfaction through excellent service. Greets each customer upon contact, assesses their needs, suggests alternative options, and provides solution resolution. Keeps their needs foremost and creates a welcoming environment, actively engages, and builds trust relationship with the customer in order to deliver a personalized shopping experience. Provides superior sales skills to serve the customer, utilizes and adheres to merchandise presentation standards including, but not limited to, arranging space on sales floor, setting up promotional fixtures, displaying promotional merchandise signing, price changes, maintaining shelf labels, keeping sales area fully stocked, receiving, and ordering merchandise, checking gas levels, assisting with military uniform dress requirements, and cleanliness of the area. Operates a cash register or other sales related equipment to enter new accounts, sales related equipment, sales transactions, refunds, prepares change funds, and deposits or other related transactions. Verifies and accepts multiple tenders for payment and makes change with accuracy and zero variance tolerance. Maintains program compliance in all aspects of recordkeeping, inventory, storage/display, and sales, including opening and closing of facility. Actively communicates/promotes the benefits of the Military Star credit card, Exchange protection plan, and other corporate programs to customers to drive sales growth and increase customer brand loyalty. Assures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations, as well as ensuring the security of fixed assets, cash, and inventory. Practices loss prevention procedures and alerts security and management of potential problems that may involve fraud, waste, and abuse. Performs other duties as assigned.
