Senior/Data Engineer - Columbus, Ohio – Hybrid We are working with a rapidly growing technology and consulting organisation that is expanding its engineering capability in the US.They are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join their Columbus team, working on complex, high-impact projects across a variety of industries.This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing and building scalable data pipelines, applications and platforms that enable advanced analytics, modelling and business decision-making.The organisation is particularly interested in strong engineers rather than specialists tied to one specific technology or platform. You’ll need strong Python and SQL skills, solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to adapt quickly to different technologies and client challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop scalable data pipelines integrating data from internal and external sources.Build and contribute to data-intensive applications, products and platforms.Develop clean, performant and maintainable code, predominantly using Python and SQL.Work across modern cloud and data technologies depending on project requirements.Maintain and improve data quality, reliability and availability.Test and troubleshoot data products and resolve technical issues.Apply modern engineering practices including version control, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, consultants and client stakeholders.Understand wider business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.Continuously explore new technologies and approaches to improve engineering delivery.Essential Skills & Experience3–6 years’ experience within Data Engineering or a closely related engineering role.Strong hands-on programming experience with Python and SQL.Experience designing and building production data pipelines or data-intensive applications.Experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP.Strong understanding of modern software engineering and development practices.Experience testing and troubleshooting data products, with a focus on data quality and reliability.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Degree in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline with a strong academic record.Comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative and client-facing environment.
