Job Description: We are looking for a highly experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support a Utah State Government client.

The ideal candidate will have: 15+ years of overall database administration experience, extensive hands-on PostgreSQL expertise, and practical experience supporting PostgreSQL applications hosted in AWS environments. The candidate will work closely with software development teams to design, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain database solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the role requires explaining technical findings, database performance issues, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments. Support PostgreSQL-based applications running on AWS cloud infrastructure. Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies. Review and analyze AWS/cloud logs to identify database issues and provide actionable recommendations. Collaborate with software developers to design efficient database architectures and optimized SQL queries. Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend appropriate database improvements. Communicate technical findings, risks, and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability, availability, and performance. Participate in occasional onsite client meetings as required.

Required Qualifications: 15+ years of overall Database Administration (DBA) experience. Extensive hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL database administration. Practical experience supporting PostgreSQL applications in AWS environments. Experience reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting cloud logs. Strong experience collaborating with software developers on database design and performance optimization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts and recommendations to diverse stakeholders. Must be currently residing in Utah.
