Accounting Consultant

Title: Accounting ConsultantLocation: Orange County, CA (3-4 days onsite)Compensation: $80/hr - $100/hrOur client, a publicly traded healthcare company, is seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to support its Corporate Accounting function during a critical transition period. This is a highly visible, hands-on role supporting month-end close, SOX compliance, technical accounting, and an M&A transition process.The ideal candidate will come from a public accounting foundation, combined with large public company experience, and possess a strong technical accounting background with the ability to operate both strategically and in the details.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the monthly and quarterly corporate close process, including journal entry review, account reconciliations, and close-related analysisAssist the accounting team with M&A activities related to carveout review initiativesPerform SOX control review and testing for Corporate Accounting, particularly during quarterly close cyclesReview regional and business unit P&L and balance sheet commentary for accuracy and completeness, following up as necessarySupport ad hoc accounting projects, including audit requests, consulting fee tracking, liability analysis, and technical accounting supportAssist with ongoing transition and validation workCollaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and consulting partnersQualificationsPublic accounting experience required, Big 4 preferred.8+ years of progressive accounting experienceLarge publicly traded company experience requiredStrong understanding of full-cycle month-end close and consolidationsDeep SOX compliance and controls experienceTechnical accounting expertise with a willingness to remain hands-on in reconciliations and detailed accounting workAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment with evolving priorities
