Manager, Institutional GivingDEPARTMENT: Institutional AdvancementREPORTS TO: Director, Institutional GivingSALARY: $70,000 - $80,000 per yearCLASSIFICATION: ExemptDATE: March 2026The Manager, Institutional Giving reports to the Director, Institutional Giving and serves as a key member of the Institutional Advancement team.This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of foundation and government grants, including research, proposal development, reporting, and internal coordination.The Manager, Institutional Giving supports a portfolio of five and six figure institutional funders and works collaboratively across departments to ensure timely submissions and strong stewardship of awarded grants.This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Memorial and Museum's mission while building depth and expertise in institutional philanthropy at a leading cultural nonprofit in New York City.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManages the reporting process for current grants, including tracking deadlines, writing narrative reports, and working with members of the program team to analyze data and report on project activities and impact.Writes proposals for new and renewed funding from national and local institutional philanthropic partners.Researches and builds a pipeline of prospective funders and grant opportunities, including foundation, and government funders.Supports the Director, Institutional Giving in advancing key funding priorities, including preparation of concept papers and briefing materials.Contributes to the strategic development of and fundraising around the Memorial & Museum's key funding priorities with an emphasis on new foundation and government sources.Collaborates with internal departments to effectively gather information necessary for the development and submission of grant and funding proposals.Collaborates with the museum program teams to write concept papers describing new and existing initiatives and partnership opportunities.Prepares necessary collateral materials to support fundraising initiatives.Assists in maintaining accurate records of submissions, awards, deadlines, and funder communications.VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTParticipates in the Annual 5K Fundraiser and 9/11 Commemoration, as assigned.Assists with other special projects and events in support of 9/11 Memorial & Museum, as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENTBachelor's Degree required.Minimum 3+ years of experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, or a related development role within a nonprofit or cultural organization.Demonstrated experience drafting successful foundation and/or government proposals and reports.Strong research skills and ability to synthesize complex programmatic information into compelling written narratives.Team player who exhibits sound judgment in communication style and overall approach with staff and external stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong computer skills - proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite application required and experience with Raiser's Edge preferredAbility to communicate the mission and funding priorities of the Memorial and Museum in written proposals and, as appropriate, in support of funder meetings and presentations.The National September 11 Memorial & Museum (9/11 Memorial & Museum) is an equal opportunity employer.
