We offer a collaborative, casual, and pet-friendly workplace where individuality and authenticity are encouraged.Job DescriptionPosition SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Jira Administrator to own and operate our Atlassian ecosystem, with Jira at the center of our delivery, operations, and governance model. This role is responsible for ensuring Jira is configured, governed, and optimized to support agile delivery, IT service management, security, compliance, and enterprise reporting.The Jira Administrator will serve as the platform owner balancing speed, flexibility, and control enabling teams to execute efficiently while maintaining strong governance, security, and auditability. This role combines technical configuration expertise with a product mindset ensuring Jira underpins best-practice processes, scalable workflows, enterprise reporting, and automation that reduces administrative friction and improves time-to-value.***This is an on-site position based in Seattle, WA. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.***Key ResponsibilitiesJira Platform OwnershipServe as the primary owner and administrator for Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and related Atlassian toolsDesign, configure, and maintain Jira projects, workflows, issue types, screens, fields, permissions, and automations. Design and maintain consistent workflows that reinforce project delivery best practices, stage-gates, status transitions, and intakeOwn platform standards, governance, and best practicesMaintain system hygiene, performance, versioning, and integrations across teams and platformsAgile & Delivery EnablementSupport Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and hybrid delivery modelsCollaborate with PMO / Project Delivery leadership to align Jira workflows to delivery standards, methodologies, and reporting structuresConfigure boards, backlogs, sprint reporting, roadmaps, and dependency trackingEnable dependency mapping, timelines, roadmaps, and status reporting without over-burdening delivery teamsIT Service Management (ITSM)Administer Incident, Problem, Change, and Request workflowsImplement ITIL-aligned processes including SLAs, approvals, and escalationsBuild service portals and request catalogsSecurity, Risk & ComplianceEnforce access controls and audit loggingManage user access, permissions, and security controls in line with governance standardsSupport SOX, SOC, PCI, HIPAA, and internal audit requirementsImplement change management workflows and evidence collectionAutomation & IntegrationBuild Jira automations and integrations with CI/CD, monitoring, and identity platformsIdentify bottlenecks and propose optimizations proactivelyUse ScriptRunner to automate repetitive tasks, enrich workflows, validate transitions, and enforce data quality. Introduce continuous improvements that help Jira act as a productivity amplifier.Reporting & AnalyticsDesign dashboards and executive reportingBuild meaningful dashboards and reports to support portfolio prioritization, delivery health, throughput, cycle-time, and capacity planningEnsure data quality for KPIs, SLAs, velocity, and operational metricsEnsure consistent data field definitions across the systemEnsure data structures & fields support analytical use cases without compromising usabilityPlatform Reliability & PerformanceOwn availability, upgrades, and platform optimization QualificationsJob Requirements5+ years Jira administration experienceDeep Jira Software and JSM expertise, Including ScriptRunner, Jira Software and Jira Service ManagementAgile delivery at scale experienceStrong understanding of intake, prioritisation, PMO processes, project lifecycle, and reportingITIL and ITSM knowledgeAudit and compliance experienceAdvanced workflow design and automationPermissions and security controlsREST API and integration experienceExecutive dashboardingNice to HaveBachelor’s degree preferred- ideally in Computer Science or a related technical field- or equivalent professional experience in ITAtlassian certificationsConfluence, Assets, Opsgenie experienceRegulated industry experienceCompensationAdditional InformationThe pay range for this position is $105,000 - 120,000, on a full-time schedule.Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members.
