Administrative Student Consultant

Walking and standing are required occasionally. Incumbent occasionally stoops or crouches and lifts up to 10 pounds infrequently. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand repetitively as well as talking and hearing constantly. Competencies:Critical Thinking Skills including: Strategic Thinking, Using Sound Judgement, Analyzing Issues and Solving Problems, Establishing & Maintaining Relationships, Communicating Thoughtfully and Professionally.This position assists the SBDC Center and the SBDC Capital Access Clinic in the development and delivery of quality one-on-one client consulting services to help people start and grow their businesses. The SBDC Center serves businesses in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn, Barron, Rusk, Taylor, Pepin and Clark Counties. Essential Responsibilities (Training & Onboarding in all these areas provided): Assists with workflow of the SBDC Center by leading internal projects. Treats all client work as confidential and assisting clients equitably. Tracks & updates client progress within internal database system. Organizes and develops office systems and procedures. Grant report compiling and grant application drafting.Navigates Microsoft Word and Outlook frequently. Uses Microsoft Excel regularly. Reviewing business plans and playing a support role in helping entrepreneurs.Assisting in onboarding future colleagues and staff.Preparing and managing travel expense reports for SBDC team.Managing external communications with stakeholders and clients in form of newsletters and emails.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to perform duties effectively: Verbal and written communication skills. Customer service skills.Organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work, delegate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.Ability to work well independently and/or as part of a team.Ability to remain adaptable and flexible with varying workloads.Required Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMust be enrolled at UW-Eau Claire.Preference for College of Business major / minor / emphasis.
